Read our Access Statement
Our access statement details all accommodations we make at GreenWood to ensure all our guests have a great day out. We have partial disabled access, providing a full, fun and educational visit each year for our many disabled visitors.
The Park has many areas fully accessible to either assisted or powered wheelchairs, including the Woodbarn Cafe & Play, Acorn Gift Shop, Birthday Party Room, toilets, boardwalks and slate paths.
GreenWood is, however, an Adventure Park and there are certain areas/rides and activities which a disabled visitor will find it difficult or impossible to access. In addition there are height and age restrictions in place on some activities and rides. In advance or on the day of your visit, GreenWood staff will be only too happy to help with queries.
We have two wheelchairs which can be used by our visitors for their day out. It is best to ring before you come and book this in advance.
Ride Assist
We recognise that some visitors require additional assistance in order to be able to fully enjoy their visit to the Park. There are some who may have difficulties in queuing for long periods of time. This may be due to difficulties in understanding the concept of queuing, having problems with every day social interaction, have a limited capacity to follow instructions or to understand the emotional feelings of others or may become agitated or distressed having to wait for extended periods of time. Our ‘Ride Assist’ service is available on our supervised rides only. For further information visitors should quote ‘Ride Assist’ on paying their admission. They will then be directed into the Acorn Gift Shop where they will be asked for some basic information and provided with wristbands.
Please note:- Proof of entitlement may be requested at the time of admission.
Due to covid measures in place to adhere to social distancing rules, we do not have a disabled access route to our Green Dragon Roller Coaster.
Carers
Carers supporting visitors with disabilities go free. We welcome one carer per paying visitor. ‘Carer’ is a ticket option on our website when booking, so this can all be done in advance of your visit to secure your entry time slot. You will be asked to present ID on arrival to us if you select Carer as a ticket type.
For Carer entry, we would accept any of the following:
- Entitlement to Disability Living Allowance for children under 16 or DLA.
- Personal Independent Payments (PIP) for those aged 16-64, either in the form of a letter stating that the benefit has been awarded or the allowance book.
- Attendance or Carer’s Allowance letter of award.
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
- A Valid Blue Badge or Credibility Access Card.
- BD8 or a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI).
- Proof of Entitlement to Child Disability Payment
- An Access card or disabled bus pass indicating that the individual requires a carer
